Report on Visit to Wells Cathedral 10th March, 2014

It was a sunny day at last for our visit to Wells Cathedral.  We were fortunate that a children’s choir from New Hampshire, USA was giving a free concert in the Cathedral prior to our guided tour.  We were divided into three groups for the tour which was excellent.

Christmas Tree Festival St. John’s Church December 2013

The Society was delighted to receive an invitation from St. John’s Church to decorate a Christmas Tree as part of their Christmas Tree Festival.  The theme this year was a carol or Christmas song, and the Committee chose “The Tweleve Days of Christmas” as our theme.  You can see the results in the photo gallery below.

Here are some of the trees decorated by other organisations  – can you guess the themes of any?  Remember they are carols or Christmas songs.

The trees can be viewed during service times on 15th December and from 10am to 4pm on the 16th and 17th December.

The Society is very grateful to Mrs. Lynette Drake for making the decorations on the Twelve Days of Christmas theme, and to her husband Mr. Phil Drake for making the wonderful Patridge.

Happy Christmas.

Photo Gallery for Heritage Day, 7th October 2013

A selection of photographs from Heritage Day

Heritage Day proved to be very successful for the Society.   It attracted over two hundred visitors, and the first to arrive – they were waiting outside when the doors opened – were pupils from Mynachlog Nedd Primary School

We had visits from the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Marian Lewis and AM Peter Black.

There were over two hundred visitors on the day both members and non members.

A small sample of the donations we received

The refreshments were a resounding success.
