Thanks to Social Secretary Ann Harries for organising another very interesting Society visit, this month to Aberglasney Gardens.
On May 6th, the Society was invited once again to take part in the annual Family History Event at the Waterfront Museum. This enables us to showcase the Society’s activities to a wider audience.
The Society was very pleased that the Lord Lieutenant Byron Davies and his wife Hilary were able to accept our invitation to join us at the Towers Hotel for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Society’s founding. We were given a very interesting and informative talk on the Lord Lieutenant’s personal history and his role as Lord Lieutenant.
The Society has presented a copy of its book “Skewen & District: Our Village in WW1 The Diary of a Welsh Village” to two local schools. On Friday, 25th November a copy was presented to Crymlyn Primary School, and on Tuesday, 29th November to Coedffranc Primary School.
The Society hopes to present a copy to Abbey Primary soon.
